9 Fun Outings Near Niagara Falls

When you go to Niagara Falls, the waterfall is obviously the main attraction, but looking at the natural wonder isn’t the only source of enjoyment in the area. There are many memorable things to do at the Falls and within the surrounding area.



Then first thing to do upon visiting Niagara Falls is to enjoy the view. From the American side, there are several great viewing areas, such as Prospect Point Park, Goat Island, and the Niagara Scenic Trolley.

After you’ve enjoyed the view, check out the other sites near the Falls.

1. Cave of the Winds

About as close to the falls as you can be, tours of the Cave of the Winds start with an elevator ride down into the Niagara Gorge, followed by a short walk to the Hurricane Deck. This deck features conditions similar to a tropical storm and is sure to get your adrenaline pumping.

2. The Falls Wedding Chapel

One of the most beautiful wedding venues in North America, the Falls Wedding Chapel hosts numerous weddings of varying sizes and tastes.

3. Niagara Gorge Trail

For those who love nature, the Niagara Gorge Trail is the perfect addition to a trip to the Falls. Great for bird watching, scenic walking, and much more, the trails feature over 15 miles of beautiful vistas and landscapes.

4. Niagara Science Museum

For anyone interested in science, this museum is particularly interesting to the physics-lover. Opened in 2009, the Niagara Science Museum is a short two mile trip from the Falls.

5. Devil’s Hole State Park

Overlooking the Devil’s Hole Rapids, Devil’s Hole State Park has picnic areas, scenic overlooks, hiking trails, and great fishing spots.

6. Niagara Adventure Theater

Showing a variety of attractions about Niagara, the Niagara Adventure Theater features a 45-foot movie screen and operates throughout the day.

7. Aquarium of Niagara

With its wide variety of underwater life, the Aquarium of Niagara is an excellent attraction for all members of the family.

8. Niagara Aerospace Museum

The Niagara Aerospace Museum has a great collection of airplanes and other relevant artifacts. In addition to its exhibits, the museum also incorporates educational programming.

9. Top of the Falls Restaurant

Reopening next month, Top of the Falls is one of the best places to eat around Niagara Falls. Overlooking Terrapin Point, it features modern American cuisine and fantastic views of Horseshoe Falls.
